Lamb meat falls into the category of red meat. As a red meat, lamb inherently contains more zinc and iron than non-red meat. It has the same amount of calories per ounce as grass-fed beef, but contains more omega-3 fatty acids. Lamb does have a higher fat content than beef, but there is less marbling within the meat. This makes it easy to trim the fat, and provides a very lean protein source.
