Green Spirulina is a blue-green algae found in both fresh and salt water. The blue pigment comes from a phytochemical called phycocyanin. When phycocyanin is extracted from Green Spirulina, we call it, simply, Blue Spirulina.

By far, the most important compound in spirulina and blue spirulina are phycocyanins including C-phycocyanin. Like many similar phytonutrients, phycocyanin is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecule.

  • Anti-Inflammatory
  • Phycocyanin’s effects are comparable to those of the best known anti-inflammatory molecules. Phycocyanin has been recognized as one of the most promising natural molecules in terms of inhibiting the pro-inflammatory COX-2 enzymes, which are linked to the phenomenon of inflammation and the associated pain, as they deteriorate cartilage and joints.
  • Anti-Allergic Immunomodulation
  • Phycocyanin is the only natural compound that is effective against asthma. It also inhibits the production of molecules responsible for inflammation, limiting the amount of these molecules released, and thus limiting their effects during allergic events.
  • Antioxidant
  • Phycocyanin’s anti-radical properties help protect cells against damage from free radicals. It has also been shown to be neuroprotective through its effects on oxidative stress.
  • Stimulating the Release of EPO
  • Thanks to its structure, similar to that of erythropoietin (EPO), phycocyanin contributes to the production of red blood cells and thus promotes the transport of oxygen to the muscular and immune systems.
  • Phycocyanin is especially recommended for athletic or working dogs who want to improve performance as well as their recovery after intense efforts or injury. It can also be used to prevent degenerative illnesses, allergies, and can help treat any viral illness. Intended for supplemental or intermittent feeding only.

This product is so interesting and cool. Plus, it works! My standard poodle has environmental allergies that nothing has seemed to help. No matter what I tried, he still had dandruff and goopy eyes. The blue spirulina has completely turned that around! I love this such a little amount of this product goes a long way. Absolutely worth the investment to help my boy!

Such a beautiful product and I have made so many pretty and fun recipes with this super-food!

A tad messy if you’re not careful (not a big deal) but the dogs love it, lick the excess right off my hands! Feeding this to my highly active hiking dogs and asthmatic cat. We have been feeding this product for about 4 weeks (to 3 pets) and still have plenty left in there container. Worthy of being in your antioxidant-arsenal!

  4. Ariel Brandner (verified owner)

Great quality! I am never let down by a shipment of this stuff. Blue Spirulina (phycocyanin) has numerous powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This is a must-have in our canine antioxidant arsenal. With clinical studies pointing to additional health benefits as a hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, and anti-cancerous agent, Wildly Blended Blue Spirulina is a crucial part of our boxer’s preventative health plan.

Blue spirulina is one of those superfood supplements that every one should add in their dogs diet. Their are so many benefits from anti inflammatory to reducing allergies. I like to use it after hikes to help with my dog’s body heal. I don’t use it every day because it can be expensive. I love the blue color and how pretty it looks when you make pupsicles. For some reason every time I open it, the powder gets everywhere, so be careful if you don’t like a mess!

  6. Tirzah Colyer (verified owner)

We love this product! We use it during any allergy flares and if any of the pups or cats have diarrhea and/or vomiting (just for an extra immune boost!). Our favorite way to use this is by making coconut water ice cubes with blue spirulina!
