Peppers are rich in vitmins A, E, B6, and lutein. They are a great source of vitamin C and beta-carotene, which are antioxidants important for a healthy immune system.
All bell peppers contain the essential vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to a dog’s health, although the red type are more nutritious. They are higher in beta-carotene, or pro vitamin A, which is then converted into vitamin A in the body. Beta-carotene is important for healthy skin, coat, and eyes.
For intermittent or supplemental feeding only.
As with any human food you introduce into your dog’s diet, bell peppers should be introduced slowly and in moderation.
Large dogs should eat less than one-half pepper and small dogs should eat less than one-quarter pepper at a time. Seeds and stems are removed to prevent indigestion.
